The second film

Downton Abbey

finally has an official release date but also a title.

After the first film to extend the successful British series in 2019, the production had promised a new component for next Christmas.

Unfortunately, it will take a little longer to find the Crawley family and their home.

The theatrical release of

Downton Abbey: A New Era

has been set for March 18, 2022 as revealed by Deadline following a presentation by Universal at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Wednesday.

New faces

This new film, which is therefore called "a new era", will obviously mark the return of the emblematic characters of

Downton Abbey played

by Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery, Elizabeth McGovern, Laura Charmichael and Jim Carter.

But fans of the series will also be entitled to some surprises since the cast has been expanded by the arrival of Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye and Dominic West.

In addition, a short extract was shown during the American convention.

We see the aristocrats preparing for a boat trip, their butler declaiming "The British are coming".

Another wedding is also on the program.

No doubt we will learn more in the months to come!
