A firm focus.

Invited this Thursday morning on RTL, Jean Castex reiterated the government's determination to continue the targeted implementation of the health pass and the vaccination obligation in certain establishments open to the public, announced by Emmanuel Macron.

Vaccination obligation imposed on nursing staff from September 15

The Prime Minister thus insisted that the government will not “back down” on the vaccination obligation imposed on nursing staff from September 15, and the sanctions provided for against recalcitrant employees will be “implemented” on that date.

To date, more than 83% of caregivers in hospitals or retirement homes are vaccinated, a sign that the vaccination obligation announced in July, "it works", observed the head of government, stressing that the employees concerned had had the time to organize.

The staff of health establishments or those working with fragile people have until September 15 to receive a first dose of vaccine, then until October 15 for the second, under penalty of being suspended.

For the head of government, this obligation “is a good thing” because, “when you do this job, you have to believe in science and medicine, and you are there to protect your fellow citizens”.

For the health pass, "the end is vaccination"

As of Monday, August 30, the health pass must also apply to "employees, volunteers, service providers, temporary workers, sub-contractors who work in establishments where users are requested are concerned by the obligation to present the health pass ”.

This applies in particular to restaurants but also concert and performance halls, cinemas, museums, enclosed and covered sports establishments, etc.

The head of government wished to reassure the other employees: "As I speak, the sanitary pass in the company is not relevant," said Jean Castex.

The health pass "is one tool among others" but "the end is vaccination", he insisted.

Third dose in nursing homes

The Prime Minister also announced this Thursday that residents of nursing homes will be able to receive a third dose of vaccine against Covid-19 from September 13.

This date will see the "restart of the systematic campaign, after obtaining consent, for the third doses (of vaccine) in nursing homes," said the Prime Minister on RTL.

Those over 65 and people with co-morbidities will be able, from September 1, to make an appointment to have their 3rd dose, as recommended by the High Authority for Health, he added, recalling that it took "a period of approximately 6 months between the second and the third dose".
