According to preliminary local official statistics, the epicenter of the earthquake was located in a sparsely populated area at high altitude. Although the earthquake was felt strongly, there were no casualties. Some hills had a small amount of soil and landslides, and some sheep sheds collapsed.

  After the earthquake occurred that day, the Aksai County emergency rescue team rushed to the Greater Hartenkirchkirgand region (95.50 longitude, 38.88 latitude), 3850 meters above sea level, which is 215 kilometers from the county seat, the epicenter of the earthquake.
