Insane Clown Posse was formed in 1989 and became iconic with its clown makeup, its dark and violent lyrics and its loyal fan base, so-called Juggalos.

Since the start, they have released 15 studio albums, of which five sold gold and two platinum, and toured extensively.

But now the latter is over.

At this weekend's Gathering of the Juggalos in Thornville, Ohio, a festival created by the band themselves, Insane Clown Posse announced that the next tour will be the band's last.

Suffering from heart failure

One half of the group, Violent J, or Joe Bruce, as he is actually called, tells during the festival that he has recently been diagnosed with heart failure.

- It is very embarrassing and not cool at all to have to say that you take a step back [...] but there will be a time in everyone's life when you have to take your first step back.

I'm 49 and I'm taking my step later than most.

But all people living right now, if they are lucky, will have to take their step back, because no one escapes the trials and tribulations of being human, said Violent J, with his partner Shaggy 2 Dope by his side.

However, he emphasized that he "will not die or so", and that the band will still perform at some point.
