The son of Commander Massoud, murdered hero of the resistance against the Soviet occupation in Afghanistan in the 1980s, said on Sunday August 22 that he hoped that a dialogue could open with the Taliban.
He added that the forces he leads were ready to fight and that he would not return the Panshir, an area of the country he controls, to the Taliban.

Ahmad Massoud called for the formation of an inclusive government in which all of the country's various ethnic groups would be represented.
