Since this weekend, Angelina Jolie is present on Instagram.

Not to reveal her daily life as a mother of six children, but to share the words of Afghans "no longer having access to social networks" since the Taliban took back power in the country in mid-August.

For her first post, the

actress

shared a letter from a young Afghan girl who recounts what the return of fundamentalist Islamists has changed for her.

“Before the Taliban came, we all went to work and to school.

We had rights, we could defend them, but they came and we are all afraid of them.

Our dreams have vanished.

(…) We can no longer go out.

(…) Once again, we no longer have any rights, darkness has returned to our lives, we have all lost our freedoms and we are imprisoned again ”, writes the teenager in a handwritten letter.

Failure

For Angelina Jolie, the situation is "a failure almost impossible to understand" after having "spent so much time and money, having shed so much blood and lost so many lives" in 20 years of American and Western military presence. The actress recalls that she had visited the country "two weeks before September 11" to "meet refugees who fled the Taliban" 20 years ago.

“It makes me sick to see Afghans displaced again with fear in their stomachs.

(…) To see for decades how Afghan refugees - among the most capable people in the world - are treated as a burden is also to vomit.

Knowing that if they had the tools and the respect, they could do so much for themselves.

And meet so many women and girls who not only wanted to access education, but fought for ", added in comment Angelina Jolie, who promises" not to turn her back on them ".

“I will continue to look for ways to help and I hope you join me,” she concluded.
