[Explanation] Wan Zhongwu, who is over 50 years old, is a ranger in the Huangnihe National Nature Reserve in Jilin.

Accompanied by the mountains day and night, he already knows how to live in harmony with wild animals.

Unexpectedly, about ten years ago, Wan Zhongwu was still a well-known hunter in the Huangnihe area.

Recently, Wan Zhongwu said in an interview with reporters that after so many years as a ranger, he has understood the importance of living in harmony with animals, and his responsibility is to protect their safety.

When Wan Zhongwu was a child, hunting bans were not enforced in the local area. The animals in the mountains are just a natural existence. More often, hunting is for tooth sacrifice.

Of course, hunting can also be reaped quite generously. Hunting a wild boar can be used to make up for a long period of time.

Under the circumstances that (shot) guns are allowed, these things can be sold at that time. There is no explicit regulation in the state that you are not allowed to sell them, but you can sell them.

At that time, the salary was very low, and your income at that time might be the one (prey), which is your salary for one year.

[Explanation] After hunting is banned in China, Wan Zhongwu must say goodbye to the profession of "hunter".

Before long, Jilin Huangnihe National Nature Reserve Management Bureau noticed him when recruiting rangers. He also actively changed his status and joined the rangers to carry out anti-poaching work.

Wan Zhongwu knew that the salaries of patrolmen were meager, and it was not easy to go up the mountain to patrol, and that they were facing life-threatening danger.

But he still agreed, because he couldn't do without Dashan.

Wan Zhongwu told reporters that he had confronted a black bear at close range for more than a minute.

I saw it from a long distance away. When confronted with each other, it ran towards me first (coming over), and came to chase me, because I was standing on top of a high post. When the bear came to chase me, he ran towards me.

I saw it too, because I still know animals very well. I ran a stinky pine (nearby), about fifty or sixty centimeters in diameter. When I ran to it, the bear stood 30 meters away from me. , I just made a barking call. It’s useless to run. I stood next to the smelly pine and kept looking at it for about a minute or two, and it left as soon as it saw nothing wrong.

[Explanation] Wan Zhongwu, who has worked as an inspector for nearly ten years, found that there are many forces behind him to support him.

In recent years, the forestry departments of Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces, the Northeast Tiger and Leopard National Park Administration, and the World Wide Fund for Nature have provided all-round support for ranger equipment, funds and training.

For Wan Zhongwu, Dashan is his home, and he is willing to step on every inch of the land with his feet to protect his home.
