After criticism, the Europapark in Rust has partially revised its rules on infection protection for hotel guests. On Thursday, he adapted a labeling of vaccinated, recovered and tested visitors to the hotels around the amusement park, which had only been in effect since Monday. In order to make the status of the guests as uncomplicated as possible for employees, the hotel guests had received colored armbands, as a spokeswoman said. Vaccinated or convalescent people and, on the other hand, unvaccinated or tested visitors were provided with ribbons in different colors.

In this way, employees could easily have seen that hotel guests met one of the three conditions - vaccinated, recovered or tested - the spokeswoman added.

According to their statements, critics had complained that the different colors could be used to identify the vaccination status, which was problematic in terms of data protection law.

The Europapark responded to the displeasure and since Thursday has been handing out the wristbands in the same color to those who have been vaccinated and recovered as well as those who have been tested on their arrival.

But these changed daily.

24,000 visitors daily

The spokeswoman said that it was never a concern to stigmatize a certain group.

“It was just about finding the most practical and straightforward solution possible,” she added.

With a view to protection against infection in the corona pandemic, specially trained employees in Europapark are now also ensuring that distances and masking requirements are observed.

This was preceded by the fact that last week visitors had complained about the high occupancy rate and crowds in the amusement park.

A spokesman said there had been about a hundred complaints emails in the past week.

It is estimated that during this time around 24,000 people would have visited the park northwest of Freiburg every day.

The amusement facility was closed for months due to the corona pandemic and only started operations again in May.
