Our series on resistant women takes us to Gabon, to meet the descendants of Queen Nzinga.

It resisted against Portuguese penetration into Angola in the 17th century.

Monarch at 43, she fought fiercely to defend her kingdom against the slave trade.

The fighting was so raging that some people fled from Angola to Gabon.

Among them, the Vungu who hid in the Gabonese forest, where they hoped not to be overtaken by the Portuguese settlers.
