The whole village was submerged and turned into a sea of water.

In the early morning of the 12th, in Hubei Province, China, over 300mm of rain fell in three hours, killing about 20 people.

Around the same time, areas in western Japan, such as northern Kyushu and Hiroshima, also suffered from flooding.

These are all effects of the rainy season front that developed late.

The rainy season front was formed when cold, dry air pushed down from the north met the warm North Pacific high pressure in Japan.

The problem is that this rainy season front that turned China and Japan into a sea of water as the North Pacific high pressure expands will also affect Korea next week.

Rain will continue throughout next week, mainly in the central part and especially the southern part, except for the metropolitan area and Gangwon.

[Seo Gyeong-hwan/Professor of Atmospheric Environment Science, Pusan National University: (than usual) a little earlier, but it can happen anytime. Recently, there is a phenomenon in which the precipitation is somewhat split in August.]

The phenomenon of concentrated rain in August, which is divided into two parts, has been prominent for the past 30 years, and research on this is in progress.

The rain will start mainly in Jeju and the southern part of the weekend, and strong rain is expected depending on the location during the rainy season, so thorough preparation is necessary.
