Neither the geopolitical crisis unleashed as a result of the Taliban's seizure of power in Afghanistan, nor the discrediting of the Government in a matter of extraordinary relevance such as the repatriation of minors in Ceuta, nor the unsustainable rise in the price of electricity, nor the breaches of the promises of the Executive in the vaccination calendar have taken Pedro Sánchez out of his summer break.

The President of the Government has not stopped his vacation at the Real de L

to Mareta except to attend a tribute to the writer José Saramago, where he avoided referring to the escalation of the electricity bill. The fact that the chief of the Executive branch does the ostrich in the heat of the heat wave constitutes an unacceptable abdication of his institutional responsibility.

It causes embarrassment that not even the significance of the events that are being experienced in Afghanistan has motivated a public intervention by the president. Unlike other leaders, such as Merkel and Macron, who appeared on Monday to establish their position on Taliban terror, Sánchez has limited himself to posting a single tweet. It is incomprehensible and unpresentable. Especially taking into account the imminent risk of a humanitarian crisis and, above all, the demand to preserve security in the evacuation of the Spaniards who are waiting at the Kabul airport at this time. France and Italy have already put their diplomatic and support staff on guard. Added to this is the historical significance of the crisis. Spain is not a stone guest in the international mission that overthrew the Taliban 20 years ago.The record of our armed forces in Afghan territory, which has resulted in 102 casualties, deserves the highest recognition for its unwavering work. Just the opposite of the pasotismo exhibited by a president secluded on his summer vacation.

Sánchez's inhibition is all the more resounding given that the Afghan chaos has been coupled with other important issues. This is the case of the increase in the electricity bill, a fact before which the Government remains undaunted; and the paralysis by court order of the repatriations of minors to Morocco, which once again reveals both the actions of Marlaska and the double-mindedness of the Executive regarding immigration. In fact, the National High Court has asked the Interior to forward the letter of August 10 on which the return of unaccompanied minors from Ceuta to Morocco is based within 24 hours.

Likewise, the silence of Sánchez with the vaccination is not explained either, in contrast to the propaganda of Moncloa in this matter during the last months.

The immunization process, it is true, proceeds at a rapid pace.

But today the term of 100 days that Sánchez himself set to reach 70% of the population with the complete guideline is fulfilled.

The goal is not going to be met, which shows, once again, Sánchez's tendency to put propaganda before facts.

Maybe that's why you've decided to keep quiet and extend your vacation.
