During the operation, four Hong Kong University students, including members of the Hong Kong University Council, were arrested on suspicion of "promoting terrorism."

The police confirmed that the case involved a "motion", that is, "mourning" the murderer in the assassination case.

He said that the Hong Kong University Students' Union once described the assailants as "martyrs" in the "motion", and the Hong Kong University Students' Union students praised and publicized the attackers in the meeting.

Li Guihua said that the law enforcement action was based on Article 27 of the Hong Kong National Security Law and the detainees were suspected of committing the crime of "promoting terrorism."
