The third vice president of the Government and Minister of Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge,

Teresa Ribera

, announced this Monday that tomorrow a new call will go to public information to

auction another 3,300 megawatts of renewable energy

with "ultra-fast" installation quotas and others for small installations with intention to respond to what has been learned in these months of maximum quotes on the energy bill.

He announced it in Menorca after holding a meeting with the president of the Consell,

Susana Mora

, where representatives of the Island's Board of Mayors also attended.

Ribera recalled that the new auction is in addition to the one

held on January 26 of 3,000 megawatts

(MW) and that it was the first for renewables since July 2017. Its distribution was then in equal parts for photovoltaic, onshore wind and another third for energy production without technological restriction, according to Servimedia.

The vice president underlined the good reception she had with offers for "more than 9,000" of MW that allowed awarding said renewable energy "in a price range of between 18 and 29 euros, with an average price of 25 megawatts euros."

In addition, he has advanced that now it is intended to "extract a significant percentage of renewable energy from wind, another percentage dedicated to photovoltaics", but with "two peculiarities" that he assured that "they are the result of the learning of these months" in which the

price of energy in the wholesale market

has marked several consecutive highs affected the consumer bill.

Specifically, he explained that an "ultra-fast quota will be included to be able to assign power and, therefore, a specific regime that favors integration quickly, benefiting all 600-megawatt consumers" and "for those facilities that may be operating by the end of the year. that come ".

On the other hand, the new auction will incorporate "small quotas for those offers of small facilities that claimed to have a specific quota and not compete with large facilities."

"We believe this is important news that, obviously, still has a very significant process ahead of it, but that will help us to continue working in the area of the energy transition and the orderly penetration of renewable energies in the system," Ribera predicted.
