The 69th San Sebastian Festival has been in turmoil since announcing the Donostia Trophy to Johnny Depp for his lifetime.

The awards ceremony is scheduled for September 22 to recognize “one of the most talented and versatile contemporary actors”.

Enough to boost the Spanish Association of Women Filmmakers and Audiovisual Media (CIMA).

CIMA President Cristina Andreu deplores “the terrible message” conveyed by the festival by rewarding Johnny Depp.

“What message does the San Sebastian Festival want to convey, which also signed the Carta de Paridad, which implies being a festival that does not discriminate against women?

That a woman's accusations are not credible?

That no matter what you do in your private life, what matters to directors is what shows on screen?

That art is above good and evil?

Or perhaps it is not a question of art but of the audiovisual industry and its economic interests ”, we can read on the association's website.
