Soprano Jo Sumi (59) suffered a mother's death.



According to the management company SMI Entertainment on the 8th, Jo Su-mi's mother, Kim Mal-soon, passed away at 5:04 am on the same day. 85 years old.



Sumi Jo, who is currently staying in Rome, Italy, seems unlikely to be able to come to Korea in time for her funeral. SMI Entertainment said, "Sumi Jo is currently in Rome, Italy, and it is difficult to enter the country before her death due to Corona 19."



The deceased supported her daughter Sumi Jo in her career as a singer. The deceased dreamed of becoming a singer when he was young, but failed to achieve it. Instead, he discovered the talent of his daughter and raised her into a world-class soprano. There is a famous anecdote that, when her husband Koh Koon-ho passed away in 2006, she told her daughter to finish her concert in Paris, France safely, instead of coming to the funeral. The deceased also received the 'Artist's Long Mother Award' from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2003.



The deceased suffered from dementia several years ago and spent a long time in the hospital. For such mothers, Sumi Jo released an album 'Mother', which contains her feelings for mothers, in 2019. He also held a recital 'My Mother' on Mother's Day last May.



Sumi Jo showed her affection for her mother by appearing on tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block', which aired in May. He said, "My mother said to me, 'It was my dream to become a singer, and thank you for making it happen'"He said, "It's very unfortunate that my mother hasn't been able to see my stage for the past few years," she said, bringing tears to her eyes.

The mortuary was prepared at the funeral hall of Samsung Seoul Hospital. The funeral is at 7 am on the 10th.
