The seven-day incidence continues to rise. According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) from Sunday morning, it was 22.6 - the previous day the value was 21.2, at the latest low a month ago it was 4.9. The health authorities in Germany reported 3127 new corona infections to the RKI within one day. This is evident from the numbers that reflect the status of the RKI dashboard at 4:10 a.m. A week ago, the value for Germany was 2097 infections. The number of confirmed infections rose by 49 percent within a week.

Hamburg reported the highest incidence with a value of 49.2 infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days.

Schleswig-Holstein (40.8) and Berlin (37.9) followed.

The lowest incidences were recorded in Thuringia (6.3), Saxony-Anhalt (7.2) and Saxony (7.6).

Federal states return vaccination doses

The incidence has so far been the basis for many corona restrictions in the pandemic, for example as part of the federal emergency brake that expired at the end of June.

In the future, other values such as hospital admissions are to be taken into account to a greater extent.

According to the new information, four deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. It had been a death a week ago. The RKI has counted 3,790,766 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected. The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at 3,665,400. The number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to 91,782.

Meanwhile, in view of the lower demand for corona vaccinations, the federal states want to return at least 2.3 million unused vaccination doses to the federal government, according to a newspaper report. This was the result of a poll of the world on Sunday. Accordingly, 14 federal states are planning the return and will report numbers to the Federal Ministry of Health by Monday. Bavaria is still in the process of determining the number of cans that it wants to dispense again. Schleswig-Holstein did not provide any information. Only the Saarland sees no need.

In a letter, the Federal Ministry of Health gave the federal states the opportunity to return "vaccine doses that are no longer used in the national vaccination campaign and whose storage allows them to be passed on to third countries as part of donations" to the central warehouse of the federal government. The vaccines should be stable for at least two months. Vaccine from doctors' offices and company doctors should not be returned. First, vaccines from AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson will go back to the federal government.

According to Welt am Sonntag, North Rhine-Westphalia alone no longer sees a need for 1.05 million vaccine doses. Baden-Württemberg wants to return more than 450,000, Hesse 185,200 and Saxony 150,000. Brandenburg reports the smallest return quantity with 30,500. At the beginning of July, the federal cabinet decided to distribute at least 30 million vaccine doses to developing and other countries. Development Minister Gerd Müller (CSU) told Welt am Sonntag: "We should gradually increase the amount, since there is now enough vaccine available in Germany." It is incomprehensible if vaccines expire in Germany that are urgently needed elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Union parliamentary group leader Ralph Brinkhaus has called for a change of perspective with regard to those who have been vaccinated and those who have not been vaccinated. "There is too much talk about the alleged indirect compulsory vaccination and too little about the rights of those who have been vaccinated," Brinkhaus told Welt am Sonntag. “What I am currently experiencing is that the vaccinated are angry with the non-vaccinated. The vaccinated people made appointments, went out and accepted that they sometimes did not do so well the day after the vaccination. And they are now experiencing that they still do not get their freedoms back completely. ”That is why it must finally be asked to what extent the non-vaccinated restricted the lives of the vaccinated.

Brinkhaus assumes that hoteliers, clubs and event organizers will only allow vaccinated people into their homes in the future. “I am part of the Caution team, but we cannot subordinate our lives to Covid for the next 30 years. We need to get back to normal, soon, not years from now. A residual risk will remain, but we will have to deal with it. ”On Tuesday, the state minister-presidents want to discuss how to proceed with the federal government in view of the rising corona numbers.
