A young bull who fled Thursday when being driven to a slaughterhouse in Feurs (Loire) was the subject of a wave of support and will ultimately have his life saved, we learned from corroborating sources .
Thursday, a young bull of the Prim'Holstein breed had escaped the vigilance of its owner just before entering the slaughterhouse of Feurs.
The several hundred kilogram animal had traveled 800 meters to the city center, where firefighters were able to put it to sleep with a hypodermic rifle and then capture it.
The anesthetic used renders the meat of the animal unfit for consumption for thirty-five days.
A reprieve taken advantage of by defenders of the animal cause who launched a petition calling to "save this courageous cow" which collected more than 22,000 signatures and opened a kitty to collect 1,000 euros as reimbursement for the slaughterhouse.
