In March 2020, the elephant herd of the "broken nose family" who originally lived in the Mengyangzi area of Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve left their "home" and went all the way to the north, successively "visiting" Mojiang County, Yuanjiang County, Shiping County, and Eshan County. County, Hongta District and other places entered the Jinning District of Kunming City at 21:55 on June 2, 2021.
Later, in order to ensure the safety of the elephants, a series of measures were taken locally to scientifically help the elephants to migrate.
At 5:40 on July 27, the elephant group entered Yuanjiang County from Shiping County via Yangwu Town, Xinping County, Yuxi City.
