Towards the end of ancestral bird hunts?

A little more than a month after having deemed illegal the practice of hunting with glue, the Council of State ruled this Friday on traditional bird hunts.

He thus deemed "illegal" several hunting techniques used in the Ardennes and the southwest of France.

"The Council of State is canceling today several authorizations to hunt crested lapwings, golden plovers, skylars, thrushes and blackbirds using nets (pantes, tenderies) or cages (matoles)" because these authorizations "Do not comply with the requirements of European law relating to the protection of birds", according to a press release.
