Brian May can admit it today, he was considering suicide at the time of Freddie Mercury's death.

Because beyond the ordeal that was the illness of the singer of Queen until his death in 1991 from the consequences of AIDS, the guitarist was going through one of the worst periods of his existence.

As he told The

Guardian

, he thought then that his life was simply "over".

“I was on the verge of jumping off the bridge several times.

I lost my father who died of cancer at the same time.

And my marriage broke down, because I fell in love with another woman (Anita Dobson, his current wife).

The marriage probably wouldn't have held up anyway, but it was the last catalyst and the breakup was very painful and appalling, ”he explained.

Fate is on Brian May

“I also felt like I was losing my children.

I felt like I was losing everything.

I was just trying to fight against the darkness and music was the only thing I could hold onto.

It was a kind of therapy, ”added the musician.

And if Brian May had found the strength to move up the slope at the time, fate has once again decided to come down on him in recent months.

Indeed, the musician was the victim of a heart attack which earned him a heart operation in the spring of 2020. He then chose to spend his convalescence in his country house located in English Surrey before having to evacuate him in emergency due to fires in August of the same year.

Best of all, his London home was ravaged by a sewage flood last month.

Hopefully things stay there!
