The Chartreuse natural park is taken by storm by holidaymakers who are not always kind to nature, France 3 Auvergne Rhône-Alpes tells us.

Although the problem is recurrent, it is proving to be much more acute this year because of the Covid, which has increased the desire for the great outdoors and space tenfold.

In response, two municipalities located in the park have issued decrees to prohibit the bivouac in tents from this August 1: Saint-Pierre de Chartreuse and Saint-Pierre d'Entremont.

For the sake of prevention, the park hired for the summer a nature coordinator and five mid-mountain guides for three months to educate visitors and hikers to "adopt the right actions and behaviors".

Agents from the National Forestry and Biodiversity Office are also present on the ground, and are ready to distribute fines of up to 135 euros if a fire is started.
