For the district of Ahrweiler, which was badly affected by the flood disaster, the German Weather Service (DWD) predicted heavy rain for Tuesday.

In six hours it can rain up to 35 liters per square meter, as the DWD announced on its website in the morning.

The weather warning applies on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The DWD also announced rain and thunderstorms for other parts of Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland.

Storms with heavy rain are therefore most likely in the north.

The temperatures on Tuesday are 17 to 21 degrees.

In the night of Wednesday showers and thunderstorms should slowly subside.

In the second half of the night, according to the meteorologists, it is mostly dry with lows of 13 to 11 degrees, in the mountainous region sometimes around 8 degrees.

On Wednesday it should only show intermittent showers with maximum temperatures between 18 degrees in the higher mountains and up to 22 degrees on the Rhine.

Despite the predicted thunderstorms with heavy rain, the civil protection team is only assuming a slight increase in the water level for the Ahr.

Local floods could occur on smaller rivers, it was said on Tuesday lunchtime.

Precipitation quantities and water levels are constantly monitored and evaluated.

The disaster control team is in constant contact with the German Weather Service (DWD) and the flood reporting service at the Rhineland-Palatinate State Office for the Environment.

Almost three weeks after the devastating storms in western Germany, the number of deaths in the Ahr valley has risen to 139.

According to the Ahrweiler district, 106 of the victims have so far been identified.

Another 26 people were still missing.

That corresponded to the number reported the day before.

According to the district, two helpers from the Technical Relief Agency (THW) were injured in an accident in Altenahr on Sunday.

The two volunteers were brought to Bonn University Hospital for treatment.

In total, the district has reported 766 injuries so far.

In the region, which has been particularly hard hit by the storm, there are currently around 5,000 members of the fire brigade, the THW, the police, the Federal Armed Forces and employees of aid organizations on duty.

In Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia, extremely heavy rain more than two weeks ago triggered devastating floods.

Many communities, especially in the Ahr Valley, were devastated.
