Since the 1984 Los Angeles Games, Emirati sports have participated in the Olympic Games, and throughout this long period of nearly 38 years, UAE athletes in various games have only won two medals (gold and bronze), except that our Olympic participation can be considered honorary, touristic or Proof of attendance, or anything else, but we can never describe it as sports participation for the sake of competition!
It may be acceptable in the eighties, it is the decade in which we got to know the World Cup, and we participated in it for the first time, and it may be acceptable bypassing in the nineties, where the sports infrastructure is still incomplete, but the honorary attendance continues, the sports failure, and the failure to obtain any kind From the types of Olympic medals to 2021, it is certainly unacceptable, illogical, and absolutely not befitting the status and reputation of the UAE, especially with the qualitative renaissance and the great development that the country is witnessing, and it occupies the first places in various fields!
There is no compelling reason for us to miss the podiums, and there is no acceptable excuse for that. If we did not have any athletic or human capabilities, and we were completely at the zero point, and we started preparing, planning, creating and spending the useful and planned, 10 or 15 years ago, today we would have made The harvest of this work, why did we not get anything, and today we celebrate our various achievements, after we reached our fiftieth year?
Why did the sport alone fail, and the rest of the sectors succeeded?!
Let us be realistic and fair, and let us admit that our sports reality is weak and flabby, and we cannot obtain useful results, if the situation remains as it is, and if we participate in the Olympics after 100 years, our reality says that the preparation for the Emirati Olympic participation lacks the integrated strategic planning between the authority The General Sports Committee, the Olympic Committee, sports federations and councils, and parents, for a period of no less than eight years.
Our reality confirms that some specialized sports facilities are not available for a number of sports, and we also have a severe shortage of qualified sports personnel and materials to obtain medals, and the few that exist never get the necessary support, and some players are even forced to pay sums of money from their own money, For the use of some stadiums or gyms in their game!
We will not get results, and we will not see gold, silver, or bronze without planning, without preparation, and without budgets commensurate with the size of the Olympics. History has not yet recorded a single medal that went to a country without these three requirements being met. The building must be from the school, and this building must be accompanied by planning in a thoughtful scientific manner, to find an integrated sports system, aimed at making an Olympic champion during the upcoming sessions, and then the principle of reward and punishment must be activated, and any sports official or sports federation must be held accountable. , can not accomplish the drawn plans!
