Seriously injured, the suspect, hospitalized, is not yet able to be heard.

But an investigation for "intentional homicide" was opened against the spouse of the woman found dead Sunday in Aveyron, said Monday the prosecutor of Rodez.

This 48-year-old woman was stabbed at the edge of a river, near the town of Calmont, while she was alone with her husband, aged 50, according to a source close to the investigation.

No witnesses

According to the first elements of the investigation, the latter would have stopped the vehicle he was driving, with several family members on board, to urinate on a road, explains the prosecutor in a press release.

While he was slow to return, his wife would have joined him.

No witnesses were present at the time of the tragedy, then a member of the family and two other people discovered the lifeless body and her husband about ten meters from her, seriously injured.

No previous domestic violence

The investigation will have to establish whether the wounds of the wife were indeed caused by a knife and if the husband, near whom a folding pocket knife was found, was himself injured.

According to the prosecutor, "the motivation of the gesture questions" because "the first hearings do not highlight a context of disagreement in the couple, no quarrel in the vehicle, no more than previous domestic violence".
