It was discovered that three police officers from the Hyogo Prefectural Police Headquarters, who were guarding at the competition venue in Tokyo for the Tokyo Olympics, were newly infected with the new coronavirus.

This brings the number of confirmed infections to 19 in the support team dispatched from the region.

A total of three police officers in their 20s and 40s at the Hyogo Prefectural Police Headquarters, who had been dispatched as support units, were newly confirmed to be infected.

According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, three people were guarding at the competition venue in Tokyo, but two of them were tested positive on July 31 after complaining of symptoms such as fever.

After that, the infection was confirmed in another person who was staying at the same police facility in Koto-ku, Tokyo.

Regarding the support team of the Hyogo Prefectural Police, 14 people have been announced to be infected so far, but it seems that 3 people have no contact with 14 people because the competition venue and dormitory in charge of security are different.

In response to this, the Metropolitan Police Department says that about 200 people in the same unit as the three people will be put on standby at the facility and a simple inspection will be conducted every two days.

At the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, about 12,000 police officers have been dispatched from all over the country as support units, and the number of confirmed infections is now 19.
