[Commentary] Guo Zengpei is an administrator of the protection and management station of Liusheng Tashi Lake Wharf.

Under the heat waves of the dog days, the young Guo Zengpei shuttled between the thousand-year-old Liusheng Pagoda and Shihu Pier. This is Guo Zengpei's daily work.

A few days ago, the reporter drove to the Shihu Wharf in Shishi City, Quanzhou, Fujian, and met Guo Zengpei who was patrolling.

  After we go to work at 8 am every morning, the first thing we will do is to patrol the site to ensure that there is no other damage to the cultural relics.

After the inspection, we will return to our management office to check the system to see whether the value upload of these testing equipment is normal and whether it is within a safe threshold.

One frequency of our patrols is once every two hours, and then my colleagues and I will take turns to patrol each other.

Even at night, we will also have a night shift.

It is to ensure that the tower is in a state of detection and protection for 24 hours.

  [Explanation] Guo Zengpei, born in 1993, is from Shihu Village, Shishi. He spent his childhood with Liusheng Pagoda and Shihu Pier.

After graduating from university in 2017, Guo Zengpei learned of the recruitment of Shishi City Museum and applied for this position.

The management station is a subsidiary of the Shishi Museum, and it usually works in the village.

Guo Zengpei said frankly that he didn't know much about Liusheng Pagoda and Shihu Pier when he was a child.

  When I was young, I was actually not clear about some of the historical stories of these two heritages. Later, I grew up slowly and became more and more interested in this aspect. Then I went to dig out the back of these cultural relics in my hometown. This section of history, this section of story, it was discovered that it was in such an important role and position at that time.

  [Explanation] On July 25, China's "Quanzhou: Song and Yuan China's World Ocean Trade Center" project passed the deliberation and was included in the "World Heritage List" and became China's 56th World Heritage Site.

The project is composed of 22 representative historical sites and their associated environments and spaces. Liusheng Pagoda and Shihu Wharf are two of them.

  [Explanation] Through the training of the protection management station and continuous learning by himself, Guo Zengpei has a deeper understanding of Shihu Wharf and Liusheng Pagoda.

He combined what he has learned with various literature materials to sort out unique explanations and promote them to more people.

During Quanzhou's application for cultural heritage, he received four to five hundred explanation activities.

Over the years, the originally fair skin has been tanned to a healthy black.

He laughed and called this "Shen Yihei".

So when I do this job here, I don't feel boring, and every day, I have new and different fun.

Some foreign friends also asked me, "You have been studying here since you were young, you have grown up here, and you still work here after you graduated. Why don't you go out and have a look."

I have told them that I love this land deeply.

With this, the pressure of cultural relic protection and the increase of relic interpretation work.
