Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani reveals, in an exclusive interview with France 24 and RFI, that he spoke with President Kaïs Saïed after his coup in Tunisia.

According to him, his Tunisian counterpart explains himself, evoking "a deadlock situation", and assures that his actions are provided for by the Constitution.

Returning at length to the lightening of the Barkhane device in the Sahel, Mohamed Ould Ghazouani denies any negotiations between Mauritania with jihadist leaders in the region.

He also admits that the reduction of French troops in the Sahel risks reducing security in northern Mali, while expressing confidence in the maintenance of French military support.

Finally, concerning his predecessor Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, imprisoned and charged with corruption, Mohamed Ould Ghazouani denies being at the origin of his trouble with the justice system and rejects the accusations according to which this affair hides a political settling of accounts with his former relative.
