A million and a half children in the world lost their parents within one year due to “Corona”

A study conducted by a research team at the British Imperial College indicated that about 1.5 million children in the world were exposed to the death of their mother, father or foster carer as a result of the Corona epidemic between March 2020 and April of 2021. The study published by the German news agency indicates that the number of children who Losing their fathers is about five times more than the number of children who lost their mothers.

The results of the study indicate that at least one million and 134 thousand children have been exposed to the death of their mother, father or custodial grandparents as a result of the Corona epidemic.

Of these, an estimated 1,42,000 children have lost their mother, father, or both.

Because the data has not been comprehensively collected in all settings, the researchers said, the number can only be an approximation, and may be an underestimate.

The study, published in the Lancet medical journal, reported that the number of children who have lost one or both parents to this pandemic is particularly high compared to the population in South Africa, Mexico, Brazil and Colombia, among other countries.

The study also showed that grandparents are increasingly playing key roles in providing care and financial support to their grandchildren around the world.
