A horrific crime shakes Iraq.. 8 of his family were killed and injured because of a dry palm

In a crime that shook Iraqi society, a young man killed and injured eight members of his family, due to a dispute over a dry and unfruitful date palm.

In the details of the incident, which took place in the province of Babylon in southern Iraq, a dispute over the division of land, including a fruitless palm tree, caused the massacre.

One of the brothers wanted this tree to be his, but a disagreement arose with the other brothers, who objected to it.

An Iraqi source told "Sky News Arabia" that "one of the brothers brought his firearm and started shooting randomly, killing two of his brothers in addition to his nephew, while a woman later died of her injuries."

He pointed out that "four women and men were also wounded, as a result of the indiscriminate shooting, and they were taken to the nearby hospital for treatment."

According to the source, who refused to reveal his name, "a security force arrived and was able to arrest the offender, and take him to the police station, to take legal measures against him."

Later, the Babylon Police Command issued a statement saying that it arrested the killer less than one hour after he committed the crime.

She indicated that the weapon used in the crime was seized in a nearby orchard, where the killer had hidden it.

She said that he was referred to the investigation in preparation for his presentation to the judicial penalty.

The Babylon Police stated that the crime took place in the city of Hilla, the provincial capital.
