“A total of 81.6 thousand hectares of forest are currently burning in the Irkutsk region,” Interfax-Siberia reports, citing the press service of the regional government.

In the forest fund, 29 previously registered fires were recorded on a total area of ​​76.968 thousand hectares.

It is noted that 19 of them are in the Katangsky district, three in Bodaibinsky, two each in Ust-Kutsky and Kirensky districts, one each in Mamsko-Chuysky, Ust-Udinsky and Chunsky districts.

The fire continues in the Chunsky district, the area of ​​the outbreak is 54 hectares.

Earlier it became known that an emergency regime was introduced on the territory of the Bodaibinsky district of the Irkutsk region due to the worsening situation with forest fires.

In addition, an increased likelihood of fires is predicted in 15 regions of Russia, including in the Irkutsk region.
