New three-week confinement in Martinique

On the Covid-19 front, the situation is particularly complicated in Martinique.

The island is facing a fourth wave which exceeds previous peaks, with 3,537 cases recorded last week and already more than 1,100 for the current one, with a positivity four times higher than the national average (16.4% against 4, 1%).

In view of "the persistent hesitation of part of the population in the face of the vaccine", the prefect Stanislas Cazelles has therefore announced a new confinement of three weeks.

It will take effect at 7 p.m. this Friday.

Claire Bové and Laura Tarantola silver medalists in rowing

With a total of two medals out of five boats entered, French rowing was particularly successful at the Tokyo Olympics.

The day after the coronation of Matthieu Androdias and Hugo Boucheron, Claire Bové and Laura Tarantola became Olympic vice-champions in a lightweight couple on Thursday, bringing the total of French medals to nine.

After a final uncertain until the end, they won their silver medals thanks to a breathtaking packaging, but had to wait a few seconds to find out if they were on the podium.

The vice-champions of Europe in 2019 were indeed only a few centimeters ahead of the Italians Valentina Rodini and Federica Cesarini.

There will be no EDF reform before the end of Emmanuel Macron's mandate

The major reform of EDF will have to wait.

The government has, in fact, suspended the project.

"At this stage, the discussions have not succeeded" with the European Commission and "it is not possible to have a bill in Parliament immediately," said a government source on Wednesday.

This means that the group's overhaul project cannot be completed before the end of Emmanuel Macron's five-year term.

This reorganization project was opposed by the electrician unions, who saw in it a risk of dismantling, as well as by a broad spectrum of the opposition.

Even if they are still waiting for the official announcement, the unions are therefore satisfied with this postponement.

By the way, what is the carbon footprint of these Olympics?
