Sheikh Dr. Abdulaziz bin Ali bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Environmental Adviser to the Government of the Emirate of Ajman and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the “Friends of the Environment” Association, sent a message to people around the world, in which he said: “The environment is a trust in our necks that must be preserved and protected from pollution.” New generations to carry the message in maintaining a clean sustainable environment by realizing the danger threatening our planet, and bearing the social responsibility towards it.
This came during his hosting of the "Inspirational" program, which is shown every Tuesday evening on Sharjah TV of the Sharjah Radio and Television Authority, where he reviewed part of his career and his experience in awareness of environmental issues, and their impact on the principles and values he believes in.
Al-Naimi, whose name has been associated with the environment and sustainability and is internationally known as the “Green Sheikh”, explained that his university studies at the College of Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Engineering, and his military specialization after studying in the Chemical Defense Force opened new horizons for him in life, and gave birth to a passion for specializing in the environment, which prompted him to follow Specialized courses in this field, joining a variety of environment laboratories, and then traveling to some countries to see their experiences in sustainable energy, to transform from “a polluter in a factory to a cleaner in life,” as he described it.
He pointed out that entering the world of the sea and learning the sport of diving had a great impact on him entering the world of environment not only as a hobby, but as a specialization based on a scientific ground, pointing in this context to his joining the "Friends of the Environment" Association, which was founded in 1991, as a volunteer, and in 1996 he became a volunteer. As Chairman of its Board of Directors, which opened wide doors for him to deal with governmental and private institutions, the media and international organizations.
Speaking about the support the Society receives, Al Nuaimi praised the great support that His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, constantly provides to the Society, stressing that he is the main inspirer and supporter of any forum, project and conference that the Society undertakes.
He recalled a story from childhood, when he fell into a hole at the age of seven, while returning home from school on a rainy day, to be surprised by a hand that extended to him and saved his life, noting that this incident taught him a great lesson in extending a helping hand to the needy and the anxious.
In conclusion, he urged young people to invest their energies and potentials and the great opportunities offered by life, and called them to make hope, impact and reward.
The ruler of Sharjah is an inspirer and a major supporter of any project undertaken by the Society.
