The Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA) today approved the administration of the

vaccine

from the American pharmaceutical company

Moderna

for adolescents between 12 and 17 years old, who until now received

Pfizer

.

The AIFA Scientific Technical Commission reported that it has followed the line of opinion expressed by the

European Medicines Agency

(EMA) and has considered that the available data demonstrate the efficacy and safety of the

vaccine

even for subjects included in this group of age.

Italy is studying whether the

Pfizer

and

Moderna

vaccines

can also be inoculated to children between 6 months and 12 years old, but health authorities have warned that it takes time to carry out the tests.

This country has already supplied 66,469,852 doses and 31 million people have received the full regimen, the equivalent of 57.4% of the population over 12 years of age.
