This week, the China Youth Daily Social Survey Center conducted a survey of 2029 respondents through the questionnaire network (wenjuan.com), which showed that 90.6% of the respondents had participated in public welfare activities on the online platform.

When participating in online public welfare, 68.3% of respondents are most concerned about the use of money and materials.

  Among the respondents, men accounted for 42.9% and women accounted for 57.1%.

Post-00s accounted for 18.6%, post-90s accounted for 50.1%, post-80s accounted for 28.4%, and others accounted for 2.9%.

Specifically, 72.7% of the respondents will donate on third-party platforms such as WeChat Charity and Taobao Charity, and 54.4% of respondents will donate on platforms of official organizations such as the Red Cross.

  Data shows that when participating in online public welfare activities, the main concerns of respondents are that the platform cannot guarantee the good use of the donations (72.2%), and the authenticity of the initiated activities (59.3%) cannot be determined.

Others include: jumping to other QR codes during payment, misleading participants (49.0%), attracting participation by celebrities, rankings, etc., blind comparison (40.3%), excessive collection of personal information (39.7%), etc.

  "When participating in public welfare activities, the general public can choose more well-known or familiar charities to participate in their activities." There are many public welfare activities, and ordinary people can choose some more professional charitable organizations.   Li Shiying feels that some public welfare projects are further promoted through platforms such as fan clubs, but platforms are more of an intermediate channel, and charitable organizations need to make information disclosure from the source.

80.5% of the interviewees suggested that public welfare fraud and other acts should be punished and bad behaviors should be resisted. 70.3% of the interviewees suggested strengthening the supervision and management of online fundraising platforms, and 70.0% of the interviewees suggested strictly implementing relevant legal requirements and strengthening law enforcement examine.

Other suggestions include: improving the professional construction of online donation platforms (55.6%), adhering to the principle of voluntariness, and not over-promoting donation rankings (42.3%).

  “Charitable donation is a long-term trust-building process. It requires charitable organizations to strengthen their usual operations and management and brand building.” Zhang Gaorong believes that charitable donations must form a normalized atmosphere so that when some disasters occur, everyone will be more willing to trust charity.
