A Yemeni in his sixties needs 35,000 dirhams to pay for his medicines, and to continue receiving his treatment at Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi, but he cannot secure this amount due to the expiration of the treatment coverage on his health card.

(Saleh - 64 years old) suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol, and he needs continuous medical follow-up, and to take his medication regularly, but his health and his simple financial capabilities prevent him from doing so.

(Saleh) states that the people he works for have taken the initiative more than once to help him, but they cannot continue to buy medicines for him for long periods.

He says, "I was unable to do anything, except to supplicate to God so that a benefactor would ridicule me to help me treat and take care of my expensive medicines."

The patient tells "Emirates Today" that diseases began to follow him with his age, as he felt exhaustion invading his body, and preventing him from continuing to perform his simple daily tasks, so he went to Shakhbout Medical City, where he had the necessary medical examinations and analyzes, and it became clear after the doctors examined him He suffers from diabetes, stress and cholesterol, which made taking medication an essential part of his daily life, as he put it.

He added that he underwent treatment, and his health card was sufficient to cover part of the medicines, but the amount allocated to him in the card is very limited, and it was completely depleted during the previous period.

He said, "I am in dire need of supplementing my treatment, as I stopped taking medications because I was unable to pay for them, in addition to the costs of treatment and continuous reviews."

He continued: «My current circumstances do not allow me to buy my medicines, as I am the only breadwinner for my family members, as I work as a private driver and receive 1700 dirhams as a monthly salary, and this amount is not enough to buy my medicines, as I need 35,000 dirhams annually, approximately, and this amount exceeds my modest financial capabilities. ».

The patient confirmed that he went to associations and charitable institutions for help, but did not receive a response.
