As a result of the first fact-finding survey conducted by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare actually requested the "indefinite conversion rule" to switch to employment with no fixed contract period when a person working in non-regular employment worked for the same company for more than 5 years. The "indefinite conversion rule" states that if a person working in non-regular employment renews a contract such as one year or six months and works for the same company for more than five years, the period will be set for the company if he / she wishes. It mandates a switch to no permanent employment.



The switch to indefinite employment began in April 2018, and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare conducted a fact-finding survey for the first time and received responses from 5662 business establishments such as companies.



According to this, 27.8% of those who worked for more than 5 years wanted companies to switch to permanent employment based on this rule.



In the survey, 6668 people who work in non-regular employment also answered what they think about this rule aimed at stabilizing employment.



As a result of examining the degree of recognition of the "indefinite conversion rule",


the majority of the respondents answered "I don't know anything" or "I have never heard of it", 39.9%
