Regarding the relocation plan of the U.S. military Futenma base in Okinawa, Okinawa Prefecture has decided to permit the transplantation of coral in the reclaimed sea area off Henoko, Nago City, which the government has applied for, after setting multiple conditions. ..

It seems that this is a response after the prefecture's defeat was confirmed in a trial that was in dispute with the government.

Regarding the transplantation of coral in the landfill area off Henoko, Nago City, the Supreme Court ruled that it was illegal for Okinawa Prefecture to permit the transplantation from the government on the 6th of this month. The defeat of the case has been confirmed.

In response to this, Okinawa Prefecture has decided to allow the application for coral transplantation submitted by the Okinawa Defense Bureau with multiple conditions based on the policy so far that it will follow the final judgment of the judiciary. ..

As a condition for permitting transplantation, in order to increase the survival rate of the coral, avoid the period of high water temperature and breeding season, and consider that the typhoon season may damage the transplanted coral. I am considering asking you to choose.

Furthermore, even after transplanting coral, we will follow up about once a week, and promptly attach a photo of the site and report it to the prefecture.

Okinawa Prefecture will announce such a policy on the 28th.
