The 78th edition of the Venice Film Festival kicks off in the first weeks of September and starts with an inaugural film signed by Pedro Almodóvar.

The film Madres Paralelas, starring Penélope Cruz and Julieta Serrano, among others, is also in the competition category for a Golden Lion.

The prestigious category also includes Jane Campion with the film Power of the dog, Maggie Gyllenhaal with the film The Lost Daughter and Ana Lily Amirpour with Mona Lisa and the blood moon, nominated.

Skarsgård and Fergusson

Some Swedish representation will be present at the festival.

In addition, the Israeli director Hagai Levi's new version of Ingmar Bergman's Scenes from a Marriage will be shown at the festival.

- I first came across Bergman when I was 18 and lived in a religious kibbutz.

It was the late 70's and I watched the movie at a club because we were not allowed to have TV at home.
