Prime Minister Jean Castex announced on Monday an increase in the budget of the Ministry of the Interior "of more than 900 million euros" in 2022, in addition to some 2.5 billion additional for the period of 2017 and 2021.

Jean Castex also affirmed that the promise of President Emmanuel Macron to create 10,000 police and gendarmerie positions during his five-year term would be "kept", with the "885 additional jobs that will be created in 2022", during a trip to Saint-Dizier (Haute-Marne).
