As Lebanon faces the worst socio-economic crisis in its history, former Prime Minister Najib Mikati was appointed Monday July 26 by Lebanese President Michel Aoun to form a new government.

Ten days earlier, former Prime Minister Saad Hariri had announced that he was throwing in the towel, renouncing this task almost nine months after being appointed.

During binding parliamentary consultations led by the president, Najib Mikati received the support of 72 parliamentarians, while 42 deputies refrained from appointing him.
