Jincheng International Plaza, Jinshui District, Zhengzhou

Volunteer Zhou Dakun did not know how to swim but rescued 15 people one after another

Zhou Dakun can't swim, and never thought of being a hero.

When he saw the first girl choking, Zhou Dakun was standing on the steps of Jincheng International Plaza near Nongke Road and Jingsan Road in Jinshui District, Zhengzhou to take shelter from the rain.

That section of the road is relatively low-lying. On the afternoon of July 20, the stagnant water rose from more than one meter to 1.5 meters, and the deepest place was close to two meters.

When Zhou Dakun saw the girl choking, he couldn't think of anything, and immediately jumped down.

In the stagnant water, the electric car and the shared bicycle bracket that were blown down by the strong wind rubbed his leg, and there were nails on the plank of the flower bed that fell.

Enduring the pain, he walked to the girl.

From the afternoon of the 20th to the early morning of the 21st, Zhou Dakun, who could not swim, rescued 15 people including the girl one after another.

Rescued 15 people to go home and sleep for two days

At around 5 pm on the 20th, entering the peak time for get off work hours, the road became a vast ocean, and thousands of people were trapped by the roadside.

At that time, the current was not too urgent, some people planned to wade home, some people simply went to the supermarket to buy a life ring and planned to swim home.

A girl jumped into the water, and the water reached her chest.

She tentatively walked forward. Unexpectedly, the water was getting deeper and deeper. When it was almost in the middle of the road, the girl was submerged by the current.

When Zhou Dakun saw something wrong, he immediately went to the rescue.

The water was deep, and he choked some water, and rushed to the shore and shouted: "Lifebuoy! Lifebuoy!" He took the thrown lifebuoy and put the girl on the side of the rescue circuit. The girl kept crying, her whole body trembling violently.

"You will die if you fall into the water!" Zhou Dakun and his friends began to maintain order and prevent the masses from wading across the road.

After shouting several times, the four men also joined the team to maintain order. A small rescue team was formed. Zhou Dakun was responsible for rescuing people. Friends and the other four were on the roadside to maintain order.

The second person Zhou Dakun rescued was a middle-aged man who got into the water thinking that he could swim.

The temperature dropped after dark, and the man shivered with cold, and soon became exhausted.

Zhou Dakun put a lifebuoy on him and pushed him back to the side of the road.

Halfway through the swim, another girl was rushed over. He hugged the girl with one hand and pushed the man with the other.

After being saved, the man sat on the steps and never thought of wandering home again.

At around 7 o'clock in the evening, the sky was already dark and the water flow became urgent.

Some people planned to drag each other in groups and wade across the road. Halfway through, the relatively short girl was left behind.

Zhou Dakun took the lifebuoy and fished them ashore one by one.

Zhou Dakun described that the water at night was "to the bones of icy cold, with a body temperature of less than 5 degrees, like in a freezer."

Another girl was trapped, and Zhou Dakun jumped into the water with a life preserver.

At the intersection of Nongke Road and Jingsan Road, the stagnant water formed a whirlpool, and Zhou Dakun and the girl were involved.

Zhou Dakun said that at that time he was weak and his left leg muscle cramped.

The whirlpool current was too fast, and he said to the girl: "I have no strength, maybe we are going to be washed away by the water." The girl cried.

Struggling in the water, Zhou Dakun put the lifebuoy on the girl and hugged her waist from behind.

At that time, the water was so deep that he was submerged, so he stepped on the bottom, surfaced to take a breath, plunged into the water and stepped on the bottom.

With the buoyancy of the water, they struggled to the shallow water, settled the girl, and Zhou Dakun returned to Jincheng International Plaza.

Zhou Dakun's physical strength is getting weaker and weaker, and he is too tired to want to hurt him or not to be afraid of any danger.

I even thought, "Just let me be washed away by the water. If I am washed away, I don't need to save people anymore."

From the afternoon of the 20th to more than 1:00 a.m. the next day, Zhou Dakun saved a total of 15 people and put them all in a nearby hotel to stop them from running around.

At 6 o'clock in the morning on the 21st, the water receded and Zhou Dakun finally went home.

He was weak. "The shoulder muscles and legs hurt like bones. I slept in bed for two days, but I didn't get enough sleep."

The child raised by aunt Zhengzhou

After slowing down, Zhou Dakun went to Jincheng International Plaza to volunteer for another day.

The three underground floors there were completely flooded, and the Hefei Fire Detachment and the Shandong Zibo Red Wolf Rescue Team used "dragon water" to pump water.

He helped distribute mineral water, eight-treasure porridge, bread, ham sausage, and lunch boxes collected from friends to the people in the resettlement sites.

Then maintain order at the intersection to keep people from passing through here and stay on duty until late at night.

Zhou Dakun was born in 1992 in Ningling County, Shangqiu City, Henan Province. He had no parents since he was a child. He grew up with his grandma and a younger brother.

When he was eight or nine years old, his family was too poor to have enough to eat. He wandered from the village to the county seat alone, begging for more than half a year, and slept on the roundabout in the middle of the road at night.

He has been to Panyu, Guangzhou, and then to Shenzhen and Dongguan, looking for ways to make money everywhere.

Later, he went north to Shandong and fished kelp in Lidao Town, Rongcheng.

At that time Zhou Dakun had just turned 11 years old.

When the boat docked and rested, he would stroll around the city and often went to the Rongcheng Academy of Fine Arts to see the students painting.

From then on, he became interested in arts and crafts.

It was cold, Rong Chengxiuhai, Zhou Dakun returned to Zhengzhou to work on the construction site.

He hasn't forgotten the arts and crafts. When he is resting, he always goes to Aunt Wei, who runs a ceramic shop in the city, to play.

Aunt Wei loves him and always takes care of him.

Later, Zhou Dakun met three friends of Aunt Wei's. They had a meal at the east house and lived at the west house for one.

With the help of four "mothers", Zhou Dakun went to junior high school, high school, and was admitted to university.

Now I have a stable job.

For the aunts, Zhou Dakun is always a child.

When saving people in Jinshui District, Aunt Wei and Aunt Wang couldn't contact him, and were so worried that they didn't sleep all night.

Saving people is a kind of love transmission

This is not the first time Zhou Dakun has saved people.

An online video of "The deliveryman rescued a young child in 47 seconds of thrills" is Zhou Dakun's deeds.

It was noon on March 16, 2019. It was the midday rush hour. Zhou Dakun, a part-time takeaway rider, was delivering food. He passed by Huanghe Road and Jingwu Road in Jinshui District of Zhengzhou and heard a "bang" sound behind him.

Looking back, a four or five-year-old boy was knocked down by a white car.

Zhou Dakun jumped into the moving traffic and fished the little boy out of the wheel of the next car.

The little boy’s mouth, nose, and forehead were injured, and his face was covered with blood. “If it’s more than ten seconds late, he may be run over his head.”

Zhou Dakun took the child to the emergency center of the People's Hospital and signed an informed consent form for the operation. He also helped to advance the medical expenses of 30,000 yuan.

Later, he helped pick the child out of the operating room, and hurriedly left after seeing that the child was not in danger of life, and never contacted the parents again.

Because of this incident, the company gave Zhou Dakun a bonus, and he donated the money to a poor mountainous elementary school in the Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture on the China-Myanmar border.

In addition, he has participated in a volunteer team, as a volunteer during the snow disaster in Hunan and the earthquake in Sichuan.

He also sponsored three poor students, now in their sophomore year.

He is frugal, and part of the money he saves is used to help others. At present, he has donated a total of 120,000 yuan in various places.

Zhou Dakun felt that saving people was a kind of love.

Except for the four aunts in Zhengzhou, when he was ill in Guangzhou, his colleague's aunt gave him 1,000 yuan. When working in Zhengzhou, a Beijing eldest brother helped him more than 15,000 yuan.

Zhou Dakun felt that now it was his turn to pass on these powers.

Zhou Dakun said that saving people happened all of a sudden, and he never thought of being a hero.

Some people who were rescued later got in touch with Zhou Dakun.

Seeing them return home safely, get together to eat with their parents, children, and lovers, and live normally, Zhou Dakun has mixed feelings. He posted a circle of friends: "It's good to live, and it's good to go home."

Saving people is a kind of love transmission.

Now it is my turn to pass on these forces.
