TGV traffic was "almost normal" Monday morning after the interruption on Sunday of SNCF links between Paris Montparnasse and the South-West, told AFP a spokesperson for the SNCF.

"All the teams remained mobilized last night to be able to reposition the TGV trainsets, the personnel, in the right place, at the right time, so that we can ensure an almost normal service", explained the spokesperson.

Death of a man during a landslide on Sunday

There were only "very few reductions" Monday morning, according to the SNCF: a train for Poitiers from Paris whose passengers were "postponed" in a train to Bordeaux, as well as "some small reductions at the start of the province time "for traffic to return to normal.

At the end of Sunday afternoon, an engineer from SNCF Réseau was buried during a landslide near the tracks on the construction site of a bridge in Massy-Palaiseau (Essonne).

A judicial inquiry has been opened to find the causes of death.

The tickets of the travelers concerned will be reimbursed at 100%

The accident caused an interruption in TGV traffic between Montparnasse station and the South-West.

The Minister Delegate for Transport Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, who visited the site, announced the resumption of traffic on Sunday evening.

Some 70 TGVs were affected, said SNCF, during a weekend when 900,000 travelers were expected.

"We removed TGVs, we advised people to exchange" their tickets, free of charge, recalled the spokesperson.

Tickets for affected travelers will be 100% refunded, she added.
