Speeding up vaccination is still the key to epidemic prevention and control

Several recent local epidemics have fully demonstrated that the domestically-made new coronavirus vaccine has better protective effect in the face of mutated strains that spread faster and have a higher viral load.

To further expand the coverage of vaccination and continuously increase the population vaccination rate is still the top priority of my country's epidemic prevention and control work.

The cumulative number of new crown vaccines in my country has exceeded 1.5 billion doses. The vaccination work is progressing rapidly. The recent epidemic has reminded us to continue to do a good job in vaccination to continuously plug various risk "loopholes."

On July 25, Nanjing held a press conference on the prevention and control of the new crown pneumonia epidemic. The Nanjing Municipal Health Commission notified the city’s first round of nucleic acid test results: a total of 9.209 million copies were tested in three days, as of 24:00 on July 24 , A total of 57 positive cases were found.

In order to prevent the spread of the epidemic, Nanjing started the second round of nucleic acid testing for all permanent residents and people in Nanjing starting at 11 am on July 25.

The Yunnan epidemic has not yet completely subsided, and a local epidemic has occurred in Nanjing, Jiangsu.

At present, the international epidemic situation is not optimistic. The mutant strains have spread to hundreds of countries and regions, affecting many of our neighboring countries and surrounding areas.

The external environment has caused great pressure on China's foreign prevention and control, and the pressure on local epidemic prevention and control has also increased.

Previously, Guangdong's emergency response to the epidemic has accumulated valuable experience for my country to effectively respond to the mutant epidemic.

After the outbreak of the Nanjing epidemic, relevant testing, prevention and control work was carried out in an orderly manner in accordance with relevant requirements.

At present, in addition to carrying out the second round of nucleic acid testing for all employees, Nanjing City also advocates "no need to leave". People who really need to leave the city must prepare a negative nucleic acid test certificate within 48 hours and apply for a health code in advance.

Although the Nanjing epidemic is being handled in an orderly manner, it is still necessary to be highly vigilant that the epidemic has "spilled" and the transmission chain involves Guangdong, Liaoning, Anhui, and Sichuan provinces.

On July 20, after a number of staff at Nanjing Lukou Airport tested positive for the new crown, local patients with a history of living in Nanjing were found in Shenyang, Hexian, Anhui, Zhongshan, Guangdong, and Mianyang, Sichuan.

The outbreak of the epidemic in Nanjing and the emergence of related spillover cases once again sounded the alarm for all parts of the country. The prevention and control of the epidemic cannot tolerate the slightest sloppy.

Especially in large cities with dense populations and international airport ports, from the airport to isolated hotels, designated hospitals and other links, there must be no rest and rest.

In addition to the rapid oncoming of the Nanjing epidemic, there is another salient feature that is cause for concern-there are currently no severe cases.

As of 24:00 on July 24, a total of 57 positive cases have been found, of which 37 confirmed cases have stable vital signs and are basically ordinary or mild patients, and the other 20 cases are asymptomatic infections.

The reason why the symptoms of the confirmed case in Nanjing are not serious is that most of the related patients have been vaccinated.

Facts have proved that the overall symptoms of the vaccinated cases are relatively mild, the chance of becoming severe is low, and the course of the disease is short.

The Nanjing epidemic has brought at least two important revelations.

First of all, although the new crown vaccination for key populations has been generally carried out, completion of the vaccination does not mean that you can sit back and relax.

After being vaccinated with the new crown vaccine, there is still a risk of infection after being exposed to the virus.

After being vaccinated, we still have to insist on wearing masks scientifically, and we must continue to do "a few things to prevent epidemics" such as frequent hand washing, wearing masks, frequent ventilation, and one-meter noodles.

Another important revelation brought by the Nanjing epidemic is that vaccines are effective and vaccination plays an important role in epidemic prevention and control. Accelerating vaccination is still the key to current epidemic prevention and control work.

The protective effect of vaccines can be divided into three levels. Primary prevention is to prevent infection, secondary prevention is to prevent disease, so that mild illness does not become severe or even to death, and tertiary prevention is to prevent transmission.

Our current vaccine is mainly positioned for secondary prevention, and the protection rate is for the disease. Some people may be infected after the vaccine, but the probability of turning into a severe case is significantly lower.

The recent consecutive local epidemics have fully demonstrated that the domestic new coronavirus vaccine has a better protective effect in the face of mutated strains that spread faster and have a higher viral load.

To further expand the coverage of vaccination and continuously increase the population vaccination rate is still the top priority of my country's epidemic prevention and control work.

The current global new crown epidemic is still in a complex and dangerous stage. Variant strains are not only widespread, but also continue to mutate and evolve.

my country’s cumulative immunization of the new crown vaccine has exceeded 1.5 billion doses. The vaccination work is progressing rapidly. The recent epidemic reminds us to continue to do a good job in vaccination to continuously plug various risk "loopholes."

Although the global epidemic situation is complex and severe, we have the successful experience of winning the defense war in Wuhan, and the successful experience of quickly and effectively controlling various clusters of epidemics. We will continue to strengthen the normalized epidemic prevention and control. We have patience and confidence.
