Snow leopard infected with corona virus

A snow leopard in the San Diego Zoo, California, was infected with the Covid-19 virus, as reported by The Guardian.

The newspaper added that the supervisors noticed that “Ramil,” a 9-year-old male snow leopard, had symptoms of coughing and a runny nose last Thursday, and two separate tests showed him the presence of the emerging corona virus, according to a statement by the zoo.

The zoo's management said that Ramel did not show additional symptoms, but because he shares a pen with a female snow leopard and two Amur tigers, zoo staff assume that the rest of the animals developed the same symptoms.

As a result, the animals have been placed in quarantine, their gallery closed, and it is unclear how Ramel became infected.
