Selena Gomez is tired of the disinformation that reigns on social networks.

The singer, who has been committed for several months so that platforms such as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, take measures to penalize fake news, renewed her call, reposting a series of messages that she had already published in December last.

At the time, the artist already wrote that "disinformation costs and will cost lives", suggesting that Facebook was not doing enough to put an end to fake news.

In her new post, she does not hesitate to tag the President of the United States Joe Biden, as well as the Attorney General, who have also called on social networks to clean up.

“So why do they still refuse to act,” wonders the star, leaving the question unanswered.

More effort

It must be said that disinformation videos and messages abound on Facebook in particular.

In her first tweet in December, Selena Gomez relayed information from the Center for Countering Digital Hate, which fights against fake news.

A study by this center found that barely 12 people are behind two-thirds of the fake news which is relayed hundreds of thousands of times.

In other words, it only takes minimal effort for social networks to put an end to their actions.

In a recent statement relayed by The

New York Times

, Facebook simply said, “The suggestion that we have not devoted resources to tackling disinformation about Covid and supporting the deployment of the vaccine is simply not not supported by the facts ”.
