• While the deputies are examining a bill this week which defines the modalities of application of the health pass, Internet users are worried about a device that would be long-term.

  • Their concern is fueled by the rejection of an amendment which put an end to the device.

  • The text debated, however, provides for a deadline of December 31, 2021.

What end date for the health pass?

While the government on Monday launched the examination of a bill for "management of the health crisis" in the National Assembly and the Senate which defines the modalities of application of this pass, some Internet users are worried about a system that would be established over time.

The rejection of an amendment tabled by Emmanuelle Ménard feeds these concerns.

The deputy close to the RN had proposed a modification of the text requesting the end of the health pass "as soon as the circulation of the virus no longer represents a sufficiently serious danger to legitimize its application".

The amendment was rejected in committee on Tuesday.

A law valid until "December 31, 2021"

However, this rejection does not mean that there is no end date for the health pass.

In the text under discussion in the Assembly, article 1 stipulates that the law, if it is passed, will only be valid until “December 31, 2021”, which corresponds to a three-month extension of the previous law. pandemic management plan, which is to apply until September 30.

Will a new law extend the validity of the health pass in 2022?

It is not for the moment foreseen in this text.

According to its rapporteur, LREM deputy Jean-Pierre Pont, the measures to apply the health pass "must be strictly proportionate to the health risks incurred and appropriate to the circumstances of time and place".

This text, however, does not resolve all the questions it poses.

The defender of rights, Claire Hédon, expressed concern to France Info about “risks of infringement of children's rights” and warns of the difficulties that people in a situation of poverty could encounter.
