For SessionLab, Hortense Volle met Kaddour Hadadi, the singer and the writer of the group HK and the Saltimbanks.

The author of the song

Danser encore looks

back on the genesis of this song, which has gone viral, and on its fight for cultural and social urgency.

An original and engaging podcast.

As he sings on

Petite Terre

, his 7th album, Kaddour Hadadi, better known under the name of HK, is

"a Roubaisien de Bergerac"

.

Hear: a child of a Kabyle immigrant who grew up in Roubaix, in the north of France, and who now lives in Bergerac in the Dordogne, much further south.

Former member of the very rap MAP (Ministry of Popular Affairs), HK, 44, is the initiator of the group HK and the Saltimbanks: French song tinged with blues, reggae, chaâbi (Algerian popular music) and hip hop too.

Author of four novels and a comic strip, HK is an activist-storyteller decidedly in tune with his time.

In 2011, he signed

On loose nothing

, a song taken up, in France, in all demonstrations, from the Labor Law to that on Global Security.

10 years later, he is the author of

Danser encore

.

Posted on December 18, 2020,

this title has been viewed more than 2,600,000 times since on YouTube

and

has become, in France and in Europe, the rallying hymn of those who believe that culture is essential to our lives.

To understand this

"joyous and moving revolt"

, SessionLab met HK in a square in Paris.

Between two trains, it tells the incredible story of

Danser encore

and redistributes to your ears all the positive waves it has received since its release.
