BPO = "Broadcasting Ethics and Program Improvement Organization" concluded that there was a violation of broadcasting ethics due to the problem that there was a discriminatory expression that hurt the Ainu people in the information program of NTV.

Nippon Television has apologized in news programs and other media for the discriminatory expressions that hurt the Ainu people in the information program "Refreshing" that was broadcast in March.

The BPO's Broadcast Ethics Review Committee, which has been discussing this issue, announced on the 21st that it was undoubtedly a direct and overt discriminatory expression against the Ainu people and deserved strong criticism.

He also pointed out that the check system was full of gaps, such as the corners in question were recorded in advance and shared among the staff but broadcast without communication.

He concluded that there was a violation of broadcasting ethics, such as the fact that there was a definite lack of basic knowledge about the Ainu people and discrimination issues in the background.

NTV commented, "We will take the opinions of BPO seriously and make use of them in future program production to prevent recurrence."

Regarding this issue, the Ainu Association of Hokkaido requested NTV to investigate the cause of the broadcast, and last month, the president at that time attended the general meeting of the association and apologized, and explained measures to prevent recurrence.
