To prevent infection, I have become a daily routine to wear a mask.

On the other hand, things that have become difficult to see.

It's a smile.

Nowadays, we hesitate to laugh out loud.

Junior high school students in Osaka worked on the "Smile Renaissance" to restore their smiles.

(Osaka Broadcasting Station Reporter Mayumi Onoda)

"I have never seen the smiles of the students"

I am a first year student at Takatsuki City Daini Junior High School in Osaka Prefecture.

In my normal school life, I always wear a mask.

Opportunities to see their true faces are limited to school lunches, and they rarely see each other's smiles.

Teachers who do not have a homeroom teacher do not have the opportunity to know the true faces of the students.

Can you somehow get your smile back?

The idea was to draw a smile hidden in the mask on a self-portrait and make everyone aware of it.

It was planned by the art department teachers in Takatsuki City, and about 9,000 students from 18 schools in the city participated.

We named it "Smile Renaissance," which means "reconstruction and revitalization" of smiles.

Dr. Tokuji Yoshida, in charge of art

"I can't see my face normally by wearing a mask. I thought about reviving everyone's smiles."

Conversation is prohibited!

So, shoot each other's smiles

To draw a smile, you have to remove the mask.

Therefore, the students used a tablet terminal.

Take off the mask for a moment and take pictures of each other's smiles.

A smile to show in front of my friends for the first time in a long time.

Conversation is prohibited and you must wear a mask as soon as you finish shooting.

Still, the screen of the tablet terminal is full of smiles.

Drawing a smile brightens my feelings

When I return to the classroom, I will draw a self-portrait while looking at the pictures.

Students who draw smiles on a piece of paper so that their smiles are emphasized.

Yosho Fujioka decided to carefully draw the mouth that is usually hidden in the mask.

It is said that drawing a smile makes you feel brighter.

Mr. Yosho Fujioka

"When I show my teeth with a smile, it makes me smile and it makes me

really

happy. When I was drawing a smile, I naturally smiled under the mask."

I want the day to come when I can take off my mask soon

This is a picture of Mr. Shinko Kubo, who is the representative of the class, when he was in the fifth grade of elementary school before the corona sickness.

At that time, I didn't have to wear a mask yet, and I smiled in front of everyone and worked on "greeting campaigns".

However, it is said that he had mixed feelings when he became a mask life in Corona.

Mr. Shinko Kubo

"When I

wear a

mask, I feel that my true appearance is hidden, and I feel that my feelings are trapped under the mask."

This time, to draw a self-portrait. I took off my mask for the first time in a while and showed my friends a smile.

Mr. Kubo was particular about the "hoo" and "forehead" that were exposed to the light.

I added white to give it a glossy look, expressing a smile and a brighter feeling.

Mr. Shinko Kubo

"When I drew a smile, my feelings became more open. I think that the smile has" magical power "that makes people happy together. It's like being able to take off a mask quickly. I want the day to come. "

"Nice to meet you" smile

Self-portrait of each smile completed in this way.

The unique smile that was hidden by the mask has been revived.

It was the first sight for Professor Yoshida of art.

Mr. Yoshida

"When I took the teacher, I really smiled" Nice to meet you. "I didn't eat lunch together, and I knew your face, but I'm really glad that I could try this. And everyone laughed with a smile. The

students who drew the picture also felt positive power from their smiles.

"United match with everyone, Good luck Do not. Reblogged feeling that I thought I would confront something hard with a smile depicts"

"I also thought I'd go without a smile"

quite visible sign of termination Not a new corona.

Still, Professor Yoshida feels a response to the smiling renaissance.

Professor Yoshida

"When I draw myself, I absolutely express the feeling of how I see myself at that time. How will I live in the world of myself, with corona, and after corona? I hope it will give you an opportunity to think about that. "

The "Smile Renaissance," which gathers the smiles of about 9,000 junior high school students from Takatsuki City, will be exhibited in the exhibition hall on the 1st floor of the Takatsuki City General Center from July 22nd to 24th.

Why don't you all smile under the mask in front of the smiles of about 9,000 people?
