First human death recorded in India due to bird flu

India has announced the death of an 11-year-old boy from H5N1 bird flu, the first such death in the country, highlighting a new potential danger in the world's second most populous country. Which is still facing difficulties in combating the Corona pandemic.

A government statement stated that the child was admitted to a hospital in New Delhi on the second of this July, and died yesterday, Tuesday, after his condition developed into a failure in organ function, according to: Al-Arabiya website.

The statement added that the paramedics who participated in the treatment of the child and his family are isolated, and the authorities have started an operation to trace contacts.

The statement said the Animal Husbandry Department of Haryana, the boy's birthplace in the north of the country, had not found any suspected cases of bird flu and had stepped up monitoring efforts.

India has witnessed more than six outbreaks of bird flu over the past two decades, and managed to control them all, and no human infection with the disease had been previously reported.
